Receipts of Live Stock at the Union
Stock Yards for 24 Hours 145 Cattle,
607 hogs, and for the week just closed.
840 cattle, 4,207 hogs. Receipts of
cattle fall a little short of last week
but hogs show a gain of 431 head. The
market on good cattle has been steady
to strong during the entire week and a
very satisfactory business has been
done. Many more good fat cattle would
have found a good market and quick
sales. The demand for stockers and
feeding cattle prevails and they are
selling at strong prices. The market
during the entire week has b9en an
advancing one, and today the bulk of
the hogs sold at $3.90; and unlos3 the
receipts in eastern markets show a
decided increase the early part of the
week, prices will go higher. The mar
ket closed strong.

X. C. Kinyon, Gueda Springs, sent in a

E. A. Brown, Mulyane, marketed a car
of hogs.
M. aL Munger, Harper, had a car of cat
tle and hogs on the market.
Thos. .Malloruey, of Knott & Mallerncy,
Belle Flaine, was on tho market with u car
of hogs.
J. J. Douahue came in from New Salem
with a car of cattle and one of hogs.
Thos. Spears came in from Goddard
with a car of hogs for .7. Tammany.
Bosley Bros , city, had some good cattle
on the market.
Sid Blakeman. Leon, had a car of mixed
stock on the late uiarkoc.
Supt. W. H. Dnlauey has returned from
Fort Worth. He reports haviug a very
pleasaut time with tho cattlemen at the
convention.
Mr. Judd, cnttlo buyer for Swift, Kan
sas City, was on this market again today.
The week's businesat tho stock yards
litis been one of the most satisfactory in
the history of this market. The receipts
of cattle have been liberal. Frices have
ruled strong on fat cattle stockers and
feeders and salesmen have not had to work
hard to move the stock tit good prices.
Shippers hnvo all been pleased with re
sults. Onr cattle market is improving
daily and is attracting the attention of
eastern packers, commission men and
speculators. Some of them already have
buyers on this market. There is a strong
fceliugon good fat cattle, stockers and
feeders and prospects look bright for good
prices for next week. All the good cattle
that come hero get quick sales at good
prices. Stockers ami feeders have been
one of tho strong features in this week's
market. One buyer from Carthace, Mo.,
has been here several days buying that
class of cattle. He has already purchased
about 2.50 and wants fully 800 before mak
ing his ilrst shipment
Xew-shippers and buyers are coming to
this market daily, and many of them are
surprised at the amount of business now
being done at the stock yards.
The hog market shows n heavy advance
during the week, being 22 cents higher
than last Saturday. It would seem as
though there was good money in hogs at
preseut prices, fatted on lijj cent corn.
Receipts during the week have been run
ning iight iu the eastern markets and they
have advanced prices rapidly as a feeler,
but thus far it has failed to show any in
crease in the offerings, and unless Tuesday
of next week shall show a marked increase
in the number of hogs at Chicago and
Kansas City prices will probably go con
siderable nigner.

CHICAGO, 111., March 15. Wheat Trad
ing was quite large and prices again
reached a higher point. The market
opened excited aud c higher than
yesterday's closing, declined '. rallied
"jc, fluctuated aud closed H&hc higher
than yesterday. The shorts have covered
yery free the past two or three days, hav
ing become somewhat easy on account of
cold weather and the numerous reports of
damage to the growing crop from various
winter wheat regions. Advices from Ken
tucky report the ground full of water and
freezinc weather. Kansas and Missouri
reported cold weather.
Corn was fairly active within narrow
limits, the market ruling somewhat
stronger. The firmer tone was due as
much as anything to the rather free pur
chases of May by a large shipping house,
though the advance in wheat had some
influence.
