In this initio we attempt to site a pretty full report of the great fair last week, not only of the entries and exhibits made from day to day, but of the Incidents transpiring ou the grounds, the soldiers encampment, the drill, the rates, and finally the list of an-irds. Kothiug was intentionally over looked or slighted and every thing was no ticed as extendi)' as our limited space would permit. This iisuc w ill be a good number to end back to friends cast from which they may gain a pretty accurate idea of what a fair in a ten-) ear old western county is like. The editor, as also his readers, are under ob ligations to Col. Hilton blew art, one of the d'rectors, who very materially assisted us in all the reports, making socral out entire, and who made ui and furnished the list of awards as published. This he did at night after dincharging arduous throughout the day in the capacity ot director. The w ondcrful and popular Spraguu troupe of genuine colored minstrels, the original Georgia, are billed for this city at the Opera House to-morrow night. "For a great many years Mr. H was con nected with the MethoHstEpiscopal Church, serving at different rimes in all Its official re lations and till bis death was a faithful and honored member. His Christianity was of the undemonstrativ e type, but steady and consistent." All the build ings will be whitewashed next season, which will add much to the appearance of the grounds. Floral Hall will have to be doubl ed in size by another season. An accident occurred Iu the pacing race, 2:20 class, yesterday afternoon that frighten ed many aud came near costing the life of a driver, Mr. Bobcrtson, of Sedalia, Missouri was driving his mare, Mountain Maid, when on the cast side of the track he was "fouled" by one of the other drivers accidentally. She dashed for the fence dragging Mr. 11., a hundred feet or such a matter, when she brought up and her driver released. Ed Dorsey showed ns a sample of corn raised an his farm in Union. Ed called it the Eagle's hot wind and dry weather corn. The ears are large and well filled, white, and will average a little more than thirty bush els to the acre. JUss Hilton, one ot the .Wichita girls, a graduate of Bethany college at Topeka, has gone to Cheyenne agency to teach the little Injuns. Henry Bichards has gone to Breckenridge, Colorado, what for we don't know unless it is to dig gold, as be and Rogers own some mines in that vicinity which they have rea sons to believe are valuable, L. Fossdick living in Grant township, brought into the city yesterday four bund red and fifty five pounds of butter which he made from nine cows. Since June first he got twenty cents a pound for it. Last year from the milk or seven cows he made and sold seventeen hundred and seventy pounds of butter for which he got twenty-two cents a pounds. .Mr. Fcame to this county ten years ago with hut seven dollars in money and no property what all and to-day he is worth that many thousand dollars.
