Did gather at tliuBatehelor's nnch Regardless! of the told. That cmley headed gentleman. Did meet thein at the door And made them all finite welcome, Where the' had not met before. lie said I am very happy. To have my neighbor come, And yet he was so sorry His wife was not at home. His houe was all completeness, A glowing lire had he. He made us all quite welcome To stay till after tea. The evening was quite gayly spent, In joking about his wife And of the politicians Who lived through all the strife. He said it was not often So many ladies came And if he did not claim one Himself was not to blame. When supper time drew near. Then he the oysters cooked And did not seem to fear, The ladies who on him looked. When the table it was set, And filled with cakes and pies, Mv friends I am wondering yet, Who was the most surprised. The batchelor with the curly hair, The old folks or the gay. Or those who waited for their snare, I am not prepared to say. Maid Of The Mitt. Cecrgetown Items. Dr. Bain of Georgetown is still practicing, its a pit thtt we are not all doctors, that is where the money is whether we know aiwthing or not just so we have the profession and a pair of saddle bags and a few powders. Fred Sickbert has bought Myron Lvndes big team of bays. S. L. Jr. Cumberland Kansas. Seeing some items written byMollic from Cumberland, I would like in turn to ask said Moiiie a lew ques tions in regard to the Sabbath School, first I would like to know where the house of God is to hold our Sabbath school in? If where they pretend to hold Sunday School is called such we should not prefer such a place to send our chi'dren to. No, far better keep them at home or let them jjo to some of the neighbors to tpend part of the day, than go to such a place and have such an example set before them by members of the church as there is, when not only a member but a tewart, one wIiosp life should be strictly up light in the sight of all men, No we have enough of such work. Certain members hold their store open on the Sabbath where any article can be purchased that they have on hand and besides that we can't see as said Mollies children are any better than her neighbors if they are members of the church, and they say they wish they were not, besides that we always had the idea that a Christian spirit worketh his neighbor no ill and in our opinion while the Holy Spirit is hov ering over said Mollie, it should re mind her of such things, I am sure that telling untrue things about ones neighbor? is not of a true christian spirit.
