Weeks, superintend ent of the construction of the Del Uio pipe line, stated last evening that the big pump at Del Kio had been put on pressure and that water had been forced through the pipe as far as Whipple yesterday. He says the ma chinery is working very satisfactorily. He will start on the ten days' test of pumping into the reservoir in a day or two. Perry, who is here from Ar lington near Buckeye visiting the members of his family, his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Benson and others who ate staying here temporarily, brought in an interesting story. He says several mornings ago on rising and going back to his tent kitchen he found the flour, provisions and furni ture scattered pell-mell through the room. The next night it was repeat ed and the next night the same. The fourth night a watch was set and it was discovered that two big mountain lions were doing the destructive work. The lions were not allowed to make much progress, however, before both were laid low and their scalps ware ready for the supervisors. The bold ness of the animals made the event au item of considerable interest in the district.- Enterprise.
