It is rumored that the Cairo 'Bulletin' has fUpnti over to the Radical side since the lection. We hare heretefore regarded Oberly as a conscientious man. Th 'Kentuckian says it is rumored that Th Bulletin has "flopped." The Kentuckian' is correct. The 'Kentuckian' therofore ought to know the present political situa tion ot The Buu.mii. We have taken precisely the same posltion.the 'Kentuck ian' took after the late election, and the Kentuckian' ought to be informed re specting its own political status. TE eligibility of Gov. Oglesby to the United States senators!) ip is now a sub ject of discussion among rural editors. An Alton paper, somewhat influenced Dy the sluggishness of that village, sees in the constitation a clause which in its opin ion excludes Mr. Oglesby from tbe priae of the renatorship. If the Alton editor were as bright as a Cairo school boy he would not in this stupid manner make hiauelf ridiculous. No sensible man, who understands the question, can for a mo ment doubt the eligibility of Gov. Ogles, by. We hope our peculiar friends herea bouts will not see in this opinion an eti dene that we are inclined to support Gov Oglesby for the senatorsbip. This is said to be a non-inflammatory pain in a nerve. Throughout all this great valley of the Mississippi there are a great many people suffering from diseases under many different names, such as gas tralgia, lumbago, sciatica, hemlorania, tic- Doloroux, which ma all be classed under this general name of neuralgia, which has its immediate cause from the same source as the agaes and fevers of such localities, whatever that may be. In but few cases is it accompanied with inflammation of the nerve iUelf or its sheath or covering ; if so, It then goes by the name of neuritis or neurilemitis. Yet for all this, with slight modifications, it is amenable to the same general treatment; and the recent discoveries in electro therapeutics, (that is the application of electricity to the cure of diseased conditions,) show whatadealof suffeiing can be relieved by tbe careful and Intelligent application of this wonderful agent. In the short time in which it has been used by medical men In Europe and America, a whole volume might be filled with the accounts of its wonderful cures, after other means often really barbarous, In proof of this assertion I will relate sev eral instances from abundant records in my possession. Dr. Winner of Tubingen, gives us two cures, one of which is remarkable for the barbarity of the preliminary treatment ac cording to the old school therapeutics. Tbe first was a man of seventy-four years old who had suffered from neuralgia, affecting all three branches of the trigemi nus, (these are nerves of tbe face called the fifth pair.) All manner of treatment had been tried during this twenty-nine years of suffering, with no good results. A red spot three-quarters of an inch long, be low the orbit of the affected side, was all the indication externally ot his protracted suforlng. Finally electricity began to attract at- UntiM, Bad wu suggested as an esperi Kent. The painful part were Included between the pole of a galvanic battery, and improvement was unmistakably per wpllble. After twenty sitting be was en tlrely relieved of his more than m quarter century of suffering. Only a slight re lapse has ever since occurred, which was immediate! relieved by the same means. The other case was a man slxty-fl ve years old, who had suffered eicruclating pn from "what is called facial tic, for fie years. All other known remedies failing, rrotewor Bilroth divided the iufra-orbltal nerva;' the pains returned. Tbi cutting was repeated, then a resection of a portion ofthB upper Jaw. This failing, tho buc clnator was cut, then the posterior, dental, tutt the Beanie), (these are name of HYLAND 4 SAUER, BUTCHERS AND DEALERS IX CHOICE FRESH MEATS OF EVERY DESCRIPTION, Corner 10th street and Commercial avemn next door to the II y land saloon. 11-16 tf.
