New York 4c, ocean 9J, or 18c, imurance
2c, Liverpool 4c, aggregate 65c, wiih a
prospective price of 'Ait 9J, or 97c, leaves
the farmer 35j.
I will now aiiume tbe same rates of
freight via New Orleans, as during tbe
winter, as above 60c, and that still gives
New Orleans 8c per buihel the advantage;
beiidei, if your Urmer market their corn
this winter, it will save them 6c per buihel

The great drawback in New Orleans has
been tbe want of steam tonnage. Hereto
fore sbips have been of the ola fogy kind,
whose mailers would lie in port sixty
or ninety days for a load of cotton.
But tbe put season has taught tbem they
eould gel as much for grain as for cotton

Hi. Our two new line of "learners have
made tbe pasiage in twenty days very
uniformly, and are working very satitfac
tory pruttu fur their owner. Other
steamer lines are contracting to send their
tblpi here at long as we can pay cotton
rates. Two ship owners were here this
week who own fourteen and twenly-tbr
steamers, which will come here at once.
From tbe pretent protpecU we shall need
60,000 buinels daily to load the tonnage
to come here at about l.d per steamer,
and lud by sail. There are orders here
now for 8,000,000 buiheli at fair prices.
