Memphis, August 8. Last Monday a
negro named Dan Calboon, who had been
digging a well near Brighton station, on
tbe Paducab railroad, laid down to sleep,
and while (looping was discovered by
three men, who, thinking to have somo
fun, as thoy aftorwards stated, pourod a
bottle of terpentine on Calhoon'a clothes
and set them on fire. Calboon awaking
and Unding himsolf enveloped In tlamcs,
ran shrieking for help, and beforo
caught was so badly burned he
