The election held at tbe eleventh
street school-house yesterday, tor the
purpose ot electing a member of the
board of education to 1111 tbe vacancy
occasioned by the removal ot E. C. Pace,
Irom this city, wr.s probably one of the
most exciting, of the kind, that lias ever
been held iu I'alro. The entire vote
polled was 724. The candidates were
Mr. W. M. Williams and N. B. Thistle
wood. Mr. Thistlewood defeated Mr.
Williams by a vote of 110 againt 313,
making his majority 07.
There will bo the usual services at the
church ot the Kcdccmer, Fourteenth
street, this morning and evening. Ofli

There will be preaching in the Presby
terian church. Eighth street, nt 11
o'clock, this morning. Owing to the
I'nion Bible society meeting, to be held
