pointed to the jrullt of Aiken, and he
wat arretted In Desoto, III, and taken to
White county, where he waa lodged In
lull. Atterwarda be escaped, and last
year, attt r a period of fourteen yean,
wa re-capturtd in Colorado, and last
December he was tried In thla county,
being brought here by a change oi

dered and the penalty ot death affixed.

John U. llalley, of Newtoh, Jasper

Hon. F. M. Youngblood, of Canton, and
Hon. F. E. Albright, ol Marphyaboro,
are conducting,tbe case tor tbe defendant.
In the' first trial Judge? Mulkcy and
Colonel Llnegar, of Cairo, were agisting
Mr, Youngblood in thedefenae, but have
not appeared in the tecond trial, Mr.
Albright came Into the case after tbe
verdlotin Ihe first trial, and made the
argument tor a now trial.
It would astonish any one to seethe
movements ot tbe partie Interested.
There are persona here trom tour or five
dlflerent counties, tome working for the
prosecution while othera are exerting
tbolr influence lor tbe detente. Tbe
hotel lobbies are crowded when court la
not In session, and it reminds one more
ol an assembly of men at a state conven

About one hundred and fifty Jurors
have been extmined and but nine hare
been taken. It la believed that the pannel
will bo tilled to-morrow.' The evidence
