Dreaming on Wedding Cake.
[From the La Crosse Democrat.]
DiJ you ever dreim on wedding cake?
No! Well don't you do it. Never be coaxed
into tempting Providence , or the othsr gen
tleman whose name commences with 'D,'
by doing; It. The other day two somebod
ies concluded to join hearts and hands, go
"for better, for worse," or until death dis
solved the partnership and gave one of the
firm a quiet life, and the oilier a wooden
box in a small cellar all by him or herself;
end the somebodies, regardless of expense,
and determined to do things up in the old
fashioned way, slung themselves on cake

while an inexperienced, innocent, seiilhneu

the sugary Cupids, and roses and posirs,
and true-lover's knots, and all the artistic
little arrangements of the confectioner's
art adorning each several cake, he half
wished, if he was cake-hungry, that some
body else was about to "marriage", and di
vide cakes and things, and luxuriate in hy
menial double blestdiiess.
Well, wo happened to be around when
one of the aforesaid cakes was cut, and the
generous recipient, not desirous of pizeniug
herself, or dying young, gave us a royal
"slab" for the delectation of our "innards'

"Ana, ruana, mona, mi," and offering up
several other equally beautiful petitions,
prepared tu bolt the dangerous compound.
A suggestion was offered we are always
glad to hear suggestions. "Save a piece to
dream on." Accepted the amendment
