THE VINTON RECORD. Mo A K Til UK, OHIO, THUK8DAY, MAY 7. 1874. The Crops. The following is a synopsis of -the leading ," WorraaWo'n furnisued Saturday by the Na tional - Orop Reporter: 'fhe unoiiial- backwirduesi cf the seatonitaa delayed very much all kihdl of spring work; and the date ot last' (uil reports, prepared April 15th, there had been pracUoally no seeding all in the State of Minnesota, aad but little plowing in Wis cousin. 'At the dfcte mention ed, about forty per -cent, of the estimated area had been sown in wheat, and but little more than -one-fourth ol the oats. The average area iown Ju wheat in Illinois, Iowa, Mis toun and' Wisconsin was eighty seven per cent, of the estimated probable total. ' The prospects ot the .fruit crop to date are of the' most encouraging character, and the reported damage by frost, ex cepting in portions or Dfclaware and Maryland, is incon siderable. 'J he condition' ol the roads at the date of reports was: South -6f the forty -first parallel, unilormly bad, owing to the prevalence of wet weather; while north of that line the ground was generally frozen, and the roads in line condition. The prices of lead ing articles the first hall of April in the States of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kaiibas, Minne sota, Missouri, Ohio and Wis consin, show a slight advance on corn, oats and hay, and a decline on swine and potatoes, Wheat remaining unchanged.
