Our people have lor some lime been aware ot Mr, Bundy 'b position ou finanoe, and the eflon ol Gary to aamage him by mihrepreseutaiion will simply tail. Mr. is opposed contraction. and favored the idea of allow ing greenbacks and gold to come abreau by the regular course ot business instead of by legislation. Bundy has all the time favored the proposition that the West had not enough nt circulating vnedium, and while he does nol ask legisla tion to force resumption ot spe cie payment, he did ask Con gress to give the great West more money and what is more the request was granted. , Dan Callen, aggravated . be cause he could not buy a nom ination. to VPngresa in the Democratic Con 'enlion at Li ma, has boughtTHiRepubli. can paper at Celina, In order personally to wage war on the DeJincnta of theFillh district. Journal. The Treasury Ring. . It Is amusing, to see the interest the 1 Treasury Ring1 is taking in this coming election. They are dilligent, in .season and out of season. Men who like shuttle cocks play forward and back from one office to an other, are dilligent in trying to earn the. lasting gratitude . of let heir fellows by doing dirty work, so that if they can not, by statute, hold one office for ever, they can forever drop from one to other, and thus re main for ever an item in thn long list of bills payable by the tax payers of the county. Loffan Republican. House Burned. The ' house of Mathew D. Wolf, of Starr Township, was burned to the ground on Mon day night ot last week. Most of the household goods were saved. The fire is supposed to have-been the wcrk of an in cendiary, as the wood shed and coal house were nearly burned up before the fire was discover ed, and as there had been no fire in either place for several months, it looked natural that they were set on fire for re a sons best known to the perpe trators. Mr. Wolf loses about $4,000, partly insured. A Good Joke. The Commissioners paid $116 for law books, then paid a com- mon'peltifogging lawyer $135 to tell them what the law is. The people elected the Com missioners to transact the bus iness of the county, and it is supposed they can do it, with the law before them in bla.k and wh'te. . i If there are auy lukewarm Republicans 'who think their party has done its great wyk, and that no harm can result n om the partial' triumph ol the Democracy, they would (o well to reflect that there was no White League, until the Democrats had carried Ohio, ew Hampshire arid Connecti cut. , As 8oou tlve; Southern cut-throat. believed their Northern lriendsv capable ol giving them assistance, they formed in solid phalanx to drive the colored man from the polls. Democratic success emboldened them, and it Is reasonable to assert that a rousing Republican victoy at the coming elections will cause them to gornund their arms, and accomplish a great deaf towards the pacification of tli ho'ith.
