SATintDAY .1IORNIXU, AUGlf:T27, 1833 J
Wo invite particular attention to the card of Dr.
Ross, in this niorninjd paper. Dr. It is well known
here as a skillful and experienced dentist, and his
endorsement of Dr. Allen 3 improved plan of in
serting artificial teeth will go far totvards bringing
Jt into public favor. Wo lately examined, at the
Dr.'s office, a plato of upper teeth arranged upon
this plan", and were particularly pleased with the'
life l.ke appearance of the gums, as well inside as
out side, and the regular and firm manner in which
- the teeth were concreted together. The Dr's. prep
arations for preparing plates of artificial teelh are
very perfect, and those under the jiece35ity;of em
ploying such aids should give him a call at hU
rooms on Cherry street.
The corporate authorities seem to have given
Doaderick street over to filth and watermelon carts.
It absolutely -'stinks in the nostrils" of every man
who js compelled to pass through or do business on
it. The alley running between the Banner and
Union and American office has been a standing nuis
ance so far back that the memory of the oldest in
habitant runneth not to the coutrary. It is ab
solutely a shame, au outrage, that the corporate au
thorities should thus neglect a portion of the city so
near to the square. The foul stenches that arise
from this portion of tho city are almost enough to
produce the plague. We understand that the cor
poration was indicted at the last criminal court for
the filthy manner in which this streethas been "kept"
for some time past, but wo do not observe that
any improvement has resulted therefrom. Where
.is Mayor Smith and his street overseer? That's
the question. If they don't come along shortly we
shall have to offer a reward for them. By the way,
whoever wants the suffrages of the good people of
Deaderick street, at the coming election, must
pledge himself that it shall be kept clean. The man
who makes the strongest pledge to this effect will
get our votes, certain.
Dl'scax, Morgan & Co. We have neglected to
notice until now the opening of this new whole
sale house. The gentlemen composing the firm are
men of known busiuess qualifications and strict
integrity, and we predict for them a large share of
public confidence and a rich return of their largely
invested capital. Their stock of goods will compare
favorably with any stock offered in this market for
many a day. We were particularly interested in

re may a Id that our young friends have evinced
as much judgment in the selection of their vant d
a -sortment as their older neighbors. We hope tl.oy
have a prosperous career before them, and we an
a5surc our country dealers that they can form the
acquaintance of no more pleasant gentlemen thin
th members of this new firm. They have chosen
as their house of business the one le-'ently occupied
by Sam Seay as a Coinuiisiion house. It 13 one f
the la'gest and most commodious buildings in the
country and is filled from cellar to garret with goods
ol the rarest fabric.
We are glad at all times to notico this branch
or our trade. The addition ol" two large houses,
puclias the Mossra. Fite, and Dfxc.vx, Morgan &
Co., to the trade of our city is a healthy indication
of ourpiosperity, and gives promise of future ad
vancement. Iu our notice of the Messrs. Fite on yesterday
we neglected to call attention to their complete and
well a -sorted stock of Ladies' Dress Goods. The
styles are very chatle, and reflect credit on their
discrin-inating judgment. We hope our friends
will bear them in mind when they como to the city
to n:ake their purchases.
