do. The question recurring on tho amendment of
fered.by Mr. Mathis. it was rejected. Mr. Butord
proposed to amend by providing that the bill should
not apply to the' estates of deceased persons.
The House took a recess of five minutes', prepar
atory to meeting in Convention.
Tne Convention met and proceeded to the elec
tion of an Attorney General for the Sixth Judicial
Circuit The names of Robt F. Jlill, George Brad
ford, D. C Walker, 1L Cox and S. Shane, being put
in nomination; and
, ,On the first call Mr. Hill received 24, Mr. Bra c
ford 5, Mr. Walker 31, Mr. Cox 8, and Mr. Shane
20 votes.
On the second call Hill '24, Bradford 7, Walker
27, Cox 8, and.Shane 22 votes.
Tho Convention had two further calls with about
the samercsults. When the Conveution adjourned
until half-past 2 o'clock, P. M.
The House then adjourned .until 2 o'clock, P. M.
HOUSE Evekino Stssios.
The House took up a bill to amend the Criminal
law of this State; read a third tune and rejected,
and on motion the House took a recess of five min
utes preparatory to meeting in Convention.
The Convention met persuant to adjournment,
and proceeded with the election for Attorney Gen
eral for the eighth Judicial Circuit and on the first
call (this being the fifth call . in this election) Mr.
Hill received 23; Mr. Bradford 5; 'Mr. Welker 25;
Mr. Cox 9, and Shane 20 votes.
On the 11th call Mr. Cox received 30 voles after
which his name was withdrawn, and on the 12th
call Mr. Hill received 22; Mr. .Bradford 9; Mr. Welk
er 31, and Mr. Shane 29 votes.
The Conveution then adjourned until to-morrow
morning 11 o'clock.
The House then adjourned until half past nine
o'clock to-morrow morninjr.
