of Easterh Europe, where lives the bulk
of the world's Jewish population, were
being ground out of existence by the ebb
and flow of , contending armies,
Today 6,000,000 Jews Are Facing the Darkest
Days Ever Known in the Long
History of the Race
Families are scattered broken. A hundred thou
sand children are orphaned. Poverty is the com
mon lot. Whole cities have not known a square
meal in five years. Disease stalks on every hand.
The death rate mounts to double triple quadru
plethat ever before known in a civilized country.'
America Is the Only Hope
In this, the greatest crisis that Jewry has ever known
in centuries' of suffering and persecution, the Jews
of America turn to their fellow citizens of all races
and creeds for that material and immediate aid
which alone can save the survivors of the race in
Europe from destruction.
This sum represents the amount sought from the country at large. . Every cent of it will go to
buy food, clothing, medicines and other necessities of life for the destitute, starving and utterly
stricken men, women and children across the sea. It is veritable ransom money, for without
ft millions will surely die I .
