Iiis fireman, is also in the hospital suff> ring from severe burns. His COB ditii n, however, is not serious. The accident occurred at 7:45 o'clock neat Whittle's Depot, when Robinson, who drove a heavy locomotive to help freights up steep Inclines, was taking a northbound freight up the line. Tin train was a double-header, anj Rob? inson's engine was foremost Whllt running fast about twenty-live miles north of here, the engineer of the second locomotive saw a dense Volume of steam emerging from the cab Of the front engine. Almost at the same time Robinson and Cranford were seen to jump. The train was halted as quickly J.s passible, and the .rew walking back discovered the prostrate forms of bom men. Robinson was terribly scaldci. all of his hair was ?one and his fac-s badly burn'-d. When the new.* was received at Dan? ville a special train was sent out to hring in the injured men. At 2 o'clock Robinson tuccumbfJ. The cause of the accident has not been ascertained, but it either resulted from low water or eis? the croun sheet fell in.
