Turner, of Vclina, is in the city on his return home from Par is Texas, where lie had been to face three indictments, one charging him with rape and two with murder. He came clear on all ol them. From what the Doctor says and from documents sworn to, duly witnessed and ackuowl- , ' , , . , edged we are of the opinion he was a victim of persecution. Mry A. Whitner the prosecuting w itness in the rape case went before a notary public and swore that she had testi fied fnlscly before the grand jurv when the indictment was found, and that Dr. Turner had never in auy way violated her person or taken forbid den liberties with her. She did no appear agaiust him and in the face of the affidavit Judge Briaut dismissed the cases saying the charges were base and without foundation. The indictments for murder were dismiss ed for want of evidence. The man killed was father of the girl Mary Whitner. Dr. Turner docs not deny killing him but claims justification. This claim is substantiated by numer ous scars from kuifewouuds inflicted during the difficulty in which Whit ner was killed Sloritz & (J old man will dissolve partnerhhi, Jan. 1st.
