Dallas, Texas, was in the city Fri
day, and during his short stay here
he established a law office and
formed a co-partnership with Ed
gar Wilhelm, of this citywho now
has charge of the office over the
City: Drug store. Mr. Russell is
well known as one of the leadiDg
criminal lawyers in the South, and
his addition to the Ardmore bar is
a welcome one and makes this bne
of the strongest bars in the south
west. He used his usual good
judgment in selecting Mr. Wilhelm
as his office lawyer. He is exten
sively acquaiuted throughout the
country. Mr. Russell intends to
spend the greater part of his time
at his Ardmore office.'

On account of inclement weather
the association did not meet, es

Drew Orphan, the negro shot in
east town last Tuesday night by
Fennoil, died of his wounds yes
terday. Fennoil is in' the federal
jail.

Saturday morning a locomotive in
the yards sounded a fire alarm.
The alarm quickly spread bcinjf
followed -'with blher' whistles, the
fire' bell and the persuasive arouser
the pistol. The blaza wal located
near Hargrove and proved to be
the three : room cottage belonging
to Postmaster Moran Scott, oc
cupied by Will Hill. Its destroy
tion was complete with all the con
tent. Mr. Hill effeqts were fully
covered by insurance. . Mr. Scott
had $200- insurance on the build
ing, which was recently built at a
cost of i $450. The origin of the
fire is aseribed to a defective flue.
During the fire which destroyed
Moran Scott's building, near Har
grove Saturday morning, the ad
joining residence or Mr. tsaii was
several times in imminent danger.

ing his home on this occasion

The United States court for the
southern district of the Indian
Territory will begin its fall session
at Ardmore .tomorrow, with the
heaviest criminal docket every be
fore a court in the southern dis
trict. We are also , informed that
the work of the grand jury will be
more laborious and voluminous
than at any former sitting.

Two tough youngster's, Cleve
Fisher and Will Winan were be
fore Police Judge Gait yesterday
morning, charged with vagrancy,
they were each fined $13.90 in de
fault of which they were given em
ployment on the streets.
