Miss Lillian Fitch, who has been in the city the guest of Miss Lena Gnrdenhire, will return to herhoine in Gainesville this evening. James W. Hannah, the efficient bookkeeper for Noble Bros., at Madill, spent Sunday in the city with friends, returning home this morning. Miss Julia Ponder is hero from Mannsville and will leave in the morning for Kansas City where she will visit friends for a couplo of weeks, Judge S. B. Bradford went to Pauls Valley today, where he will hold commissioner's court for a week in the absence of Commis sioner Pfeiffer. A. B. Morgan has returned from an extended visit to Chicago, Detroit and other large cities, he also took in the Buffalo Exposi tion during his trip. Dr. A. V. Ponder is here from Mannsville. He says that Manns ville property will sell reasonable next Thursday and that many peo ple will be nttracted to the new town. S. A. Douglas is in Marietta. Prof. Conway is here today from Brock. W. Mr. Dwyer is the guest of Mr. Jameson who is showing the visitor the sights of Ardmore. Another Night Prowler. Oscar Wyont, who drives n hack for White & Smith, while in the south part of town at a lato hour Saturday night was attracted to the home of Joe Collier by the screams of women. When ho drove up tho ladies asked him to come in, stating that some one was trying to break into their back door. Oscar passed around to the back door with his lantern 'and saw whero the screen bad been torn off. The wire was torn near the latch and the burglar evidently mtonded to open the door, but was frightened away by Mrs. Collier and her lady visitor who had dis covered him. This is another visit to a home when the men are absent and an other invitation to swift veng eance. A number of young people met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Mullen Saturday night and enjoy ed the evening playing whist. Lewis, a colored barber was fined $8.15 in Judge Gait's court this morning for disturbance. For Selling Liquor. W. S. During tho olectricul storm about 1 o'clock today, a very dis tinct thunder bolt spread nwo among many of our people. It was the closing scene of the storm which lasted for about thirty min ules. The lightning struck a house in the northwest part of the city oc cupied by a widow lady named Mrs. Keener. Tho bolt entered nt the stovo Hue aud mnde its exit through tho lloor tearing a hole therein. Mrs. Keener was knocked down and was unconscious for n few minutes.
