Attorney for Xon-Reslde.-: Flrst published Jaauary , 190. OUR SMA.LLP0X PATIENT. Comfortably Ensconsed at the Pest house at City's Expense. Several days ago the Ardmortite spoke of tbe Introduction into our city of a smallpox patient and spoko of our trying to get rid of hltp, Hut the patient stuck to us and we still have him. It seems that the paMenl was re moved from the posthouec. but was' dumped at a point not far distant from Ardmore. and the same night ak midnight the palient made his way back to our dopot. by crawling, for his feet were too sore to walk. Our city physician then had tho pa tient sent out to the peetbouse. and some wood and provisions taken out to him. Dr. Moffett leit the city Mon day and the patient was left at the peetbouse, with a bad case of small pox. unattended by nurse or friend. An Ardmore te reporter made in investigation of the matter yeHar.Ly and could find no one who Vnew any thing about the matter. Tbe mayor was called upon and d.' l not know whether the patient was at tbe pesthoaM or not. Dr. Gardner va seen and be knew nothing of him. 1-ater In the day Dr. Oardner was seen and stated that he was then just from tbe pest house, that be had been rfrnt there by tbe mayor, and he si'it ed that tbe sick man was there, had a genuine case of smallpox and was unattended by any nurse or help of any kind. Said he had a few provis ions and some wood, and more provib lons were sent out to him yostorday afternoon. We understand that Dr. Moffett told some ono to tell Dr. Gardner to look aftor him while ho was absent from the city, but Dr. Gardner failed tr receive the message. Wo are told that this Is the only case of amallpox in the city, and with the proper diligence we hope there will bo no more of It. 0 o !o III HIV ULU ll'UIIUL c s iuno uili rnunc.
