Trillin. i:iM-i-illim Mmiilrt'il MIIi-n un Hour I'Iiiiiimi1 Kur SfiilllMlt Line. Renewed Interest in the monorail system of transit has been awakened by the propi'Hltiou to construct n Hue between Edlnburrli and (Jlnsjrow, plans for wlili ii h:ive been submitted to the Kovcrnuieiii board of trade for ap proval, says a spcclnl cable dispatch from London to the New York Evening Journal. The speed to be attained on the proposed Hue is 117 miles un hour, which means that the Journey of forty miles will be covered in twenty-five minutes. This system hns attracted n grent deal of attention since the plnn" to con struct n monorail lino from Liverpool to Manchester wnu submitted to the railway committee of the house of commons and favorably reported on less than n year ago. Considerable op position has been encountered, but the extraordinary speed possible to these trains and their safety hnve been Irre sistible factors In recommending them to the progressive. The features of tho system are: It requires only n single rail nt tho apex of nn A shaped structure. It needs comparntlvefy small locomotives. It finds power for locomotion at every point along Its entire rail, and there Is scarcely any limit to the speed possible to be nttnlncd. Ingenious drawbridges are arranged for crossings, and every appliance necessary to Insure safety lias been devised. The Hehr system of the monorail Is the one thnt hns found most fnvor In England, nlthough several other sys tems nre In course of construction in various parts of the continent. It Is ex pected that Vienna nnd Hudnpest, Her Un and Zosscs nnd Hrussels nnd Ant werp will be connected with each other by these systems before very long. r La grippe coughs yield quickly to the wonderful curative qualities of Foley's Honey and Tar.
