I This Minister of the Gospel Declares She Is an Abomination, Because She Deitroys the Possibility of Being a Lover. Wsshtegtoa. Jan. The "new wosann" was pilloried and the pasto ral sooaraae tetd upon her back In a sermon delivered In the Fifth Street Baptist church by its pastor. Rev. Western Bruner. The theme was "The New Woman an Abomination." The pastor has caused many of the society aad club women in his con gregation to wince at hie stings. Many after the sermon Mid that tbey felt some things said had been il tree tod at thear personally. Here Is what the pastor said . "The 'new woman' is an abomina tion, because she destroys the possi bility of being a lover, and a woman without a heart Is not a woman. There are three types of this a bom (nation, ooe of the greatest, in my opinion, of this age. The first Is thr woman with children, a husband and a home, who neglects all three of them for the sake of the club, the drawing room and the 'temple of pleasure.' The wider liberty of this age grants men and women a certain li cense, but It saps the real liberty and makes one a slave to homfe destroy ing Influences. Our own city Is not free from this evil. "The second clsss is that of the woman, married or single, who neg lects her home duties to emphasize to the world 'women's rights.' This type is a distinct menace to society. She would blot and destroy God's most glorious picture. "The third type of this abomination Is tho 'childless wife.' She is too often seen In tho well fed, tastefully gown-1 ed and handsomely brought up dam1, 1 who can not bear the burden of look-, Ing after children, a.s such an occu I patlon would Interfere with htr own' privileges. "Such a type is only too common In our large cities and In the vorv iirart of their fashionable section? T:ils kind of woman destioys the possibility of being a lover, and a woman with out a heart is not . a woman. Tho thing for which God created -voman was the bringing up and guidance of the little babe, and motherhood Is thr greatost triumph there is. The Ideals I of a man, I havo been told by men I themsolves, are largely deternn.ied b th Ideals of woman. Man will s'n't or rise to her standard." All sheet music at 10c per copy for , 10 days.
