Oklahoma City: A serious question affecting the power of county rom niisslouerM In the granting of saloon licenses Iiuh been ile eloped by an attorney for tho Oklahoma Anti-Saloon League. It has 1 u discovered that the organic act under which the territory was organised did not confer such authority on boards of county commissioners nor city coun cils; that such power was delegated only to Judicial bodies. It Is contend ed that such being the case not a saloon license now In existence In the territory Is valid. The Oklahoma laws wen; In great part copied from those of Nebraska, and In that state the authority to grant saloon llreiiKe Is vested In city councils and county commissioners, but that much of the law wns left out In making the or ganic act by which Oklahoma was organized. The matter has arntiHcd considerable Interest In local temper ance circles. NOTICE. Governor ilrooks of Wyoming wrote "High license, with strict regulation, heavy bonds being required of saloon kepers nnd dealers, is tho only solu Hon of the liquor question."
