, An Expressoin of Sincere
Appreciation
We are extremely thankful for the thousands of encouraging words ice have
received during tlie campaign ws have conducted. Mnnu letter arc received
by us daily frwn persons we have never met, hut who have taken an in
terest in our efforts to bring about belter conditions in Tulsa.
We are grateful for the substantial increase in our retail department.
Although we have been, and arc boycotted by the painters and paper
hangers union, our retail sales have increased stadily. We want to express
our sincere thanks to our customers and to assure them that the malicious
actions of the unions, while temporarily affecting us, will have no lasting
effect. 44
We do not intend to submit to to the increase in wages of the painters and
papcrhangcrs on Marcli 1 from $S lo $10 a day. Our customers would
only have to pay it. To allow tfiis increase would surely incline the union to
ask for another Increase in a few weeks.
After March J our employes will be put on a co-operative, profit-sharing
basis. For every dollar they save up to $20 from their Salaries, wc will give
them another dollar. If they save $20 a month, we will give them $20
more. . ,
And there will bc'no increase in the prices charged our customers.
Wc make only 10 per cent' net profit. Wc do not believe this figure is ex
horbitant or that it is profiteering. We will give $1,000 to any charitable in
stitution if it will show that wc make a greater profit than this.
Wc arc not "independent." We welcome both new and old customers in
our store, treat themy courteously end show Ihcrn every consideration
possible. We endeavor to conduct our store on tsound business principles
which will cause customers lo return ajain and again.
Our campaign has been conducted in what wc believe to be the best in
terests of all Tulsa, and not for any selfish motives. If it will save the
community even a quarter million dollars during the coming year, we trill
have been well repaid.
If the wnsumer refuses determinedly to pay increased labor prices, and
increased prices for merchandise that is not a necessity, they will not be
increased. The consumer must say the final word.
