The ladles of Margaret Hive, the women's auxiliary, swarmed into the lodge hall and added to the gaiety of the event. There was a program, ban quet and dance, the festivities being kept up until 2 a. m. F. H. Crowson la commander and George F. Damofi record keeper. Charley Gillette, tHe first commander, and Ed Thornton, the first record keeper, both of whom are charter members, attended the reunion and swapped yarns over the earlier Maciabean period. I Cash! Mrs. Howell Isaac entertained a number of the young people of Ash land last Monday evening. The af fair was in honor of Miss Virginia and Mr. rieorge Nell of Chicago, who are visiting Mrs. Isaac, who is their aunt. Miss Nell has become very popular among the young people here and will be greatly missed when she leaves for her home next Friday. The evening was spent with music and games, and dainty refreshments were served. Mesdames Throne, Banks and Payne assisted Mrs. Isaac. MEDFORD, - OREGON Captain Collins of the regular army, instructor for the Oregon Na tional Guard, Inspected the local com pany last Monday evening at the arm ory. This was the annual inspection and the militiamen had everything polished and shincd up in good shape and turned out well. On Tuesday Captain Malone and Lieutenants Dean and Blake went to Medford to attend the inspection of the Medford company and were shown through the quarters of the Medford organization. Encampment this year will be held from the 16th to the 27th of June. The contpnny has high hopes of being sent to the exposition at San Fran cisco, but if the plans for the fair trip should fail they will go to Fort Stevens. Bowlby Asked To Resign Governor Withycombe has request ed the resignation of State Engineer Bowlby. The action wes caused by antipathy on the part of the' legis lature and refusal to enact need ed highway legislation unless he resigned. The resignation of Mr. Howlby, It Is understood, will not affect the highway construction In Jackson county, as the state engin eer's work was practically finished and It to said the county court will carry the work forward aa planned.
