Mining Activity.
From reliable reports from our
'correspondents anil visitors lo these
sections, it would seem that a spirit
of life has been infused into them,
j that will result in great things for
our county. Ord District is being
developed, a large force of men is
now being worked, and the ore is
said to assay splendidly. Kan Fran
cisci capitalists have taken hold in
j earnest, and intend putting up ex
t tensive works for the reductiou of its
I ores. Iv Holcnnib Valley numbers
nf men are at work on the placers.
In Bear Valley, too, tho claims
look exceedingly favorable for a
brisk summer. , The mines which
have been rnado unprofitable and
allowed to lie idle through trickery,
have passed into new hands, aud
already work is commencing on
them in earnest. A new five-stamp
mill has lately been put up here,
new locations have been made, and
the determination to make them
pay seems to prevail. Ivanpah
sends its regular quant tint of the
precious metal-, and work will not
be slackened there. Altogether,
our mining prospects for the com
ing summer seem at present deci
dedly favorable.— San Bernardino
