Jacksovnille, Fla., June 7 — Before the House Sub-Committee to-day, A. A. Allen testified that in November, 1870, he was Sherill of Baker counly, and made a can vass with the County Judge. He continued: "On the 10th of No vember a man named Driggers came to see me and said we were beat If we did not do somethinfl. H> said he could make a canvas*. I said we had nfi Justice of the peace. He said he had one who was all right, named Hill Oreen. I told him I would oanvasswith him after dark in the Clerk's office and look over the returns. At this point Hiscock introduced a resolution asking a summons for J. B. Bryant and J. W. Howell. Rejected by the following vote: Aye—Hiscock. Nays — Hunton and Springer. The latter gave as a reusou for their vote that the testimony of those parties would relate lo a sub ject beyond the Jurisdiction or tlie Commission. Resolutions wero introduced by Hiscock that several hundred per sons in Alachua and linker coun ties be summoned.
