Hoyt Governor of Idaho. It is the almost universal wish that the Sen ate act promptly in confirming this appointment, aud that Gover nor Hoy t come forward at once. Iv an affair near South Mountain, Owyhee county, four citizens wero killed, one wounded and one miss ing, who is believed to have been killed. Reinforcements were sent forward from Silver City and another fight was expected to take place to-day, A considerable body of Indians wero seen near Cold Spring station, fifty miles out of this place, lust night. All ac counts agree in tho statement that the Indians aro continually passing across the stage road, uud across Snake river, between Big Camas Prairie and the scene uf hostilities in the Owyhee country. General Howard is expected here Tuesday. A company of troops from tlie West will arrive a day later. The In dians will probably make their first stand in the Juniper Mountain re gion, but it is evident that only a portion of their fighting force Is there and that, they will remain in the lava beds until dislodged or forced to surrender.
