New York, June 6 —President Cleveland's
pronunclamlento on the financial situation and
the extra session of congress was the principal
factor in Wall street this morning, and was
about the sole topic of dliousslon in financial
oirclos. At the stock exchange prices ruled
higher and assisted by buying orders from Lon
don, Baltimore and Ohio rose Lake Bhore 2
end Weetern Union 1 „ points, Improvemeut
In the remainder of tie list was !4 to IV< per
cent, aud at Intervals the deaiiugs took a spir
ited upward movement, which was checked
daring the afternoon by a sudden advance in
rates tor call money from 3 to 6 per cent, and
by tho knowledge that Chicago and other west
ern cities were making heavy drafts for curren
cy, the rcsull being a decline of % Id 2 per cent.
Tbe market closed rather weak in tone.
Government bondß closed weak.
