SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. I.— The pres
sure has fallen rapidly along the Wash
ington coast. Generous rains and high
southerly winds are reported from the
mouth of the Columbia river northward.
At North Head a maximum wind velocity
of sixty miles from the southeast has oc
curred. Warmer weather prevails gen
erally on the Pacific slope except near
San Francisco, where it is cooler.
