the most graceful arches covering a
parallel with the lead to the stairway
and landing which, as will be seen,
is a feature of itself.
The fireplace and mantel are strik
ing in effect, built of native stone, a
handsome gray, the effect of which is
to lighten the room with lta pillar
effect, In splendid contrast to the
Flemish oak woods with which the
room is finished.
A large square doorway leads to the
dining room, another beautiful apart
ment, with china and glass buffets
daintily tucked away in the walls, pre
senting a handsome appearance. Light
hat been one of the principal things
sought by the owner, for the windows
of Uie home are opon, large and in
viting. From the dining room entrance
is made to the library, which may at
any time be made an extension of the
dining room, which will accommodate
the serving of more than eighty guests
should occasion require. The library
is an especially attractive room, while
the novel conceptions of the designers
are shown strongly here. Book cases
and writing desk are built into the
walls, and when closed form an at
tractive setting. The woods of the
(Uning room are of selected grain Ore
gon pine in royal oak, while the library
is given of the same material.
Other artistically arranged rooms in
clude the "den," the breakfast room,
the kitchen, the family and reserved
rooms on the second floor, the model
bathrooms, the garage and basement,
laundry, furnace, etc.
Provision is made for 108 electric
lights in the residence and garage.
The»grounds are carefully dressed
and maintained and show the same
good taste and care as was developed
in the residence itself. The big trees
with their lavish foliagn form a grate
ful shadow for the large variety of
roses and flowers which line the walks,
and badges of geraniums gracefully
brighten the closely shaven lawns with
their crimson beauty. Fifteen va
rieties of roses and small shrubbery
decorate the grounds, while the orange,
lemon mandarin and tangerine trees
greet the eye. The garage adjoining
the summer house is one of the most
complete in detail. Poultry houses of
modern type complete the details of
this well appointed home, while small
vegetables, fresh from the garden,
garnish the table fresh every day.
