AVIATOR WILL DESTROY
MIMIC TOWN OF AVALON
Thrilling Illustration of Develop
ment of Modern Warfare
Planned for Luna Park
A The managers of Luna park, the
amusement resort at Washington and
Main streets, are preparing a sensa
tional Illustration of the development
of modern warfare. It is a spectac
ular production, being built by Fred
P. Sargent, under the title of me
Inevitable War of the Future' and
will represent the demolition or civi
lization on the Catalina Islands, th.'
attack being made on Avalon.
Manager Sargent lias secured the
services of William H. Clark, a well
known aviator, who will operate a
Bleriot type machine. This is being
especially constructed and the inventor
says it will be the first absolutely
practical armored air craft that baa
ever been built.
The harbor of Avalon will be repro
duced in the lagoon in the center of
the park. The wharves and fleets of
small fishing boats will be shown in
detail in the harbor. Lying well out
to the mouth of the harbor, in the deep
water, will be several of Uncle Sam's
latest models of battleships, cruisers
and torpedo boats.
Foremost in this fleet will be a cor
rect reproduction of the latest style
of fighting machine, the dreadnought.
The village of Avalon will have its
hotels, stores, cottages and wharves.
All the battleships and cruisers lying
in the harbor, as well as the fortress
at the mouth of the harbor, will have
mounted guns and will be able to
belch forth real fire and smoke.
Over this scene will float the death
dealing Bleriot. The tiny packages of
explosive will begin to drop, the bat
tleships and the forts will answer in
kind but to no avail. One by one the
. guns of the fort will be silenced. One
'by one the pieces of the battleships
will fall, and at last, with a tremen
dous explosion, the town will plunge
into the sea. Displays of fireworks
■will accompany this original spectacle
at night and a military demonstration
both afternoon and night.
