The ball given last night in the Music Hall as an introduction to the celebration of the Fourth of July was a brilliant affair. A large number of invitations were issued, which were very generally accepted, and by 9 o'clock p. m. the hall was well filled. Messrs. Stratemeyer and Unger decorated the hall handsomely, the gallery front being draped in red, white and blue. In the cur tain arch the American flag was hung with that of Hawaii and Germany on either side. In the rear, hanging from the flags, was a largo French flag, and in the center of the gallery front the English ensign was dis played. The Royal Hawaiian flag was hung over the royal box, and over the opposite box the American flag. The front of the proscenium arch was covered by the Japa nese flag on the right, and the French on the left. From the center of the arched roof long wreaths of maili were carried to the four quarters of the hall, and many ether festoons of green decorated the bal conies and wings. The band was stationed in the gallery, and when the grand march struck up be tween sixty aad seventy couples moved slowly around the dancing floor, laid over the parquet and the stage. Their Majesties the King and Queen were present, as were their Koyal Highnesses Frincess Liliuokalani anS Princess Likelike, His Excellency Governor Dominis, and their Excellencies the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Attorney General. His Excellency G. W.
