On Monday evening tho 21th iust
a horriblo tragedy occurred at Wai
nkoa Hawaii About 030 that even

easy at his prolonged absenco from

where ho had been working to look
for him Horn they found what ap
peared to bo his lifolosj body tho
head saturated in blood Dr Wil

phoned for and hastened to tho field
Upon examination he found tho man
stiJ alive but unnonsoiouf with a
severe fracture of the skull evident
ly caused by a blow from some sharp
instrument Duguid was takon to
tho Hilo Hospital where ho was
thoroughly examined No other
marks wero found upon him and all
that medical skill could do was done
to save his life hut it was of no
avail for ho died early the next
morning without recovering con
sciousness
Nothing at present is known as to
the causa of the murder Duguid
haa beon working but two weoks on
the plantation aud had a gang of
Chinese One of theso laborers
could not bo found after tho mur
der but the rest wore all taken to
tho Police Station that same even
ing and locked up On Wednesday
evening tho missing Chinaman
knocked at the door of the jail aud
asked for admittance saying he was
tho man who committed the murder
