gard to tho naval movemantB and
battle at Yalu river

Admiral Kamimuras fleet arrivod
at GenBau on April 26th without
efTeotiug the intended bombardment
of Vladivostok owing to tho thick
fog continually prevailing
Tot learning tbat tho KinBhu
Maru was overdue the ihot left tho
port on the 26th of April in search
of her and again pAcaeded near
Vladivostok but incessant fog again
obstructed tho fleet which regained

The Captain of the Maya re
ports that a naval detachment con
sisting ot the guuboats Maya and
Seji and torpedo boats ascended
the Yalu on the 1st of May bom
barding tho enemy
While they were returning the
enomys artillnry suddenly attacked
tbetorpodo boats who silenced the
enemy after thirty minutes severe
engagement The detatchment all
returned to Yongampho without
casualties and our armed launches
reached Antung in the same morn
ing and repulsed tho enemys infan
try and artillery after thirty min
utes sharp fighting
Fire was seen rising from the town
A native says that the enemy fled
from Antung after setting fits to it

May 1st says that not
withstanding tho stout resistance to
the Second and Twelfth Divisions
and Imperial Guards they advanoed
by tho three roads driving the en
emy with them
We captured by 8 oclock p m
a line extending from Antung to
Liushukon and tho Imporial Guards
surrounded the onemyon three sides
and after a severe fight captured
twenty guns with horses and car
riages over twenty ofcoroand many
men
The General Reserve Corps ad
vanced along the Liaoyang road
The enemy was composed of tho
whole Third Division and Twenty
seoond and Twenty fourth Regi
ments of Sixth Infantry Division
Sharpshooters Misohaukos cavalry
brigade of about forty guns and
eight machine guns Thoyfladto

Our casualties at most wero not
over 700 The total booty taken
was twenty eight quiok firing guns
