  • In late April 1854, French moved the paper from Rising Sun, Ind. to Jeffersonville. In his April 22, 1854 editorial, French said the title would be changed to "The Jeffersonville Republican," however, no issues of this title have been located.
  • Initially supported the "Know-Nothing" American party, then the Republican party. By the time it terminated, it was politically independent.
