early this morning Ho has been
very busy receiving reports from dif
ferent departments and In confer
ences and had an office full of callers
when n Sun representative saw him
this morning
I think we shall get all tho legis
lation through at this session of the
legislature that wo desired for our
cities ho said when asked about
tho prospects of tho legislation the
mayors of the secondclass cities ore
asking from tho legislature Of
course ono or two of the bills may
fall to pass but we shall get at least
nearly all we asked for Tho bill that
stands tho least chance for passage
Is tho ono governing the city Jailer
us there Is a hard fight on It
Wo mayors have several other
bills we wnnl to get through but wo
concluded to nsk for tl1jse wo > wanted
the most first and If successful with
them we shall try for the others
One change talked of was to change
the elections of city officials to con
form to those of the cities of tho first i
third fourth Hfth and sixth as pro
vided for under ttho constitution
Tho constitution says the mayors and
other officials except the city judge
of all tho cities shall bo elected at
the same time and this is not the
case now
Tho mayor enjoyed his visit to
Danville n great deal Ho was born
In Danville and enjoyed meeting his
old acquaintances much Mrs Yelsci
was with him on tho trip but wont
to Hawesvllle for n few days visit
I saw something at Danville Sat
urday that could only happen in Ken
lucky said tho mayor A man
was being tried for murder and the
officials and jury were anxious to
hoar a lecturer who had been
brought to the city by the Daughters
of the Confederacy to lecture on
Hobert E Lee so they adjourned
court and all attended tho lecture
Mayor Yolser spoke well of the at
tention Acting Mayor Starks gave
city affairs during Ills absence and
declared that Mr Starks Is a mighty
nice man Ill say to you sir
