HAVE FEVER IN CHECK
Expected That New Orleans Will Soon
Be Free From Dread Disease
New OrleansBy the end of the
present week the authorities In charge
of the fever situation believe they will
be In such thorough touch with con
ditions that they will be able to speak
with authority as to their ability to
control and eradicate the disease lu
advance of the coming of the frost
Dally the system of Inspection and re
port Is becoming more perfect and
by that time not only will It be pos
sible to tell precisely the extent of tho
fever but a period will have arrived
when no more new cases traceable to
the original Infection may be expected
It is generally believed here that
when the present sickness passes New
Orleans will not seek to regain the
fruit trade which has now been di
verted to Mobile unless the fruit com
panies are willing to submit to regu
lations which will make impossible tho
Introduction of fever
