has recovered sufficiently to leave that
place and Is now staying at the home
of his daughter Mrs Geo W Read
in Salt Lake City

Creer has recovered sufficiently to
return home from Salt Lake Mr
Creers homo is now quarantined for
scarlet fever one of his grandchildren
having a mild case but ho was male to
be out on < tho lawn chatting with a
numbc friends Tuesday
This week the Home Dramatic Co
vlll present two plays of exceptional
merit Thursday night they will play
a strong military drama entitled The
Cmfcbernte Spy und Friday night a
drama of tho Southwestern frontier
entitled Rio Grande Both of these
piece have strong plots Dont fail to

Spencer Woodward who is superin
tendent wt the Idaho Gem mine reports
that the shaft Is being sunk us rapidly
as possible with two shifts They have
proved with drifts on the 200 foot level
that the top of the big ore body had
bee j struck The company will drift

about 2 feet deep at the mine
Amendments to the articles of incor
poration of the Spanish Fork Canning
company have been filed with the
county clerk The capital stock has
been increased from 10000 to 25000
and made assessable not to exceed 25
per cent of the value of the stock The
time of holding the annual meeting is
changed from the first Monday in March
to the second Monday in January I I
A little baby boy was born to Mrs
C E Snell Monday morning at three
oclock but the little one passed away
I at 9 p m Funeral services were held
at the home Tuesday morning at 11
j oclock and the little body was interred
in the Spanish Fork cemetery beside
the father who passed away last Sep
tember Mrs Snell is doing as well as
could possibly be expected under the

Death of Mrs Cynthia Rockhill
The story of Cynthia Rockhills death
told briefly Is as follows About the
2th of sho present month she went
to tho Holy Cross hospital and
was operated on for hemorrhoids The
operation was successful and on the
Oth she left the hospital walking half
a block to the street car line Sho
boarded a car and went to tho home of
her daughter Mrs Vera Gardner
After arriving there she was taken
III with heart failure of which she ex
pired in a few minutes after her arrival
Funeral services were held over her
remains at the First ward meeting
house last Monday Bishop R W Mc
Kell presiding The house was filled to
ts utmost capacity three of her ste
ers and one brother from Richfield
being present The pulpit was drnped
In white muslin and ornamented with
fresh fern leaves and flowers The
casket was brought in at 230 p m It
was completely covered with the choic
est pink and white roses interwoven
with fresh fern and other green and
beautiful leaves Some of these were
worked by loving fingers into beautiful
designs Among the pall bearers were
Hon Henry Gardner and Postmaster
L O Lawrence The choir led by
Wm Frost sang The Resurrection
Day Invocation by Wm Jex The
speakers were Samuel Cornaby J P
Creer Bishop Argyle and President
Henry Gardner Ed Williams sang a
solo When We Meet on That Beauti
ful Shore Tho Second ward male
quartet sang J Need Thee Every
Hour Most Gracious Lord The choir
sang in closing Nearer My God to
Thee The speakers all bore a faith
ful testimony to the moral qualities of
he deceased
Mrs Rockhill was born on the Span
Ish Fork River January 4th 1852 and
was the daughter of Albert K Thurber
and Thursa Thurberand was the widow
of the late John Rockhill who died
just 11 years before her She was the
mother of 12 children 11 of whom
survive her She was a faithful wife
a loving mother and a useful member
of society The closing prayer was

Ferguson was accepted on account of

Last Monday morning Karl Grotcgut
one of the old residents of the Fourth
ward passed peacefully away having
been in poor health for some time The
Immediate cause of his death was
pneumonia and bronchitis He was a
native of Denmark and lived in Spanish I
Fork about forty years and was recog
nized by all as a good neighbor and
citizen The funeral services were
held in the Fourth ward meeting house

William Banks one of the pioneers j
of Spanish Fork passed away at his
home In the Fourth ward Wednesday
having been failing in health rapidly I
during tho winter months About ten
days ago gangreen set In in one of his
feet and a day or two later the other j
foot was also affected with the same
disease Preparations were made to
go to Salt Lake to have the feet am
putated but owing to the fact that Mr
Banks was sinking rapidly it was
decided not to go to the hospital He I
was one of the best known citizens of
this city having been in charge of the I
Coop butcher shop for over thirty
years filling that position till last fall
He was 73 years of age The funeral
services will be held at the City Pavil
ion Friday at 2 p m i i
