HARLAN AND BEDE
They Have Been Handling Roosevelt
Without Gloves
Colonel Roosevelt has been put
upon ' the defensive and the experi
ence has not been an enjoyable one
for him.
I After ho had planned his trip
through the Rocky Mountain and Pa
cific Coast states, the Taft managers
arranged to have him followed by
John M. Harlan ot Chicago and for
mer Representative J. Adam Dede of
Minnesota, and they have been nan-
Idling tho colonel without gloves. Mr.
' Harlan has been dealing sledgo ham
mer blows and Mr. Dede has been
Btlnglng tho Third Term candidate
I with shafts of wit and satire. The
pugnacity of the Taft orators, togeth
er with tho fact that they punctur
ed Roosevelt's vulnerable record
with criticism and rid cule, aroused
grent Interest everywhere, and the
crouds addressed by them wero much
larger than those which listened to
Roosevelt.
Mr. Harlan emphasized Roosevelt's
violation of his Third Term pledge,
exposed the Intimate relations be
tween Roosevelt "and George W.
Perkins, director of the Harvester
trust, denounced him as a man who
was attempting to wreck the Repub
lican party In order to gratify per
sonal ambition and revenge, and said
that tho red tbandanna wh ch Roose
velt had adopted j,as his emblem was
really tho flag of anarchy. Mr. Bede
pointed out that Rcosevelt bad been
a good Republican until he was de
feated for the nomination when he
suddenly discovered that the Repub
lican party was not-good eonugh for
him. Mr. Rede rldlcdled Colonel
Roosevelt's pretensions to similarity
with Abraham Lincoln. "Lincoln,"
said Mr. Dede, "made a great party
for the good ot all; Roosevelt Is
striving to destroy that party for the
glory of himself."
Colonel Roosevel has plainly evi
denced the fact that the attacks upen
him are getting upon his nerves.
"My child was burned terribly
about the face, neck and chest. I
applied Dr. Thomas' Electric OH.
The pain ceased and the child sank
into a restful sleep." Mrs. Nancy M.

I This Cooking Range and
Heater Makes Work a Pleasure
We have pleasure in calling your attention to
' this new improved range. You will thank us for
selling you
Cole's Patented High Oven Range
if you once use it. Its scientific construction
insures its success the heat raises and by
L means of the draft and flue construction all
heat circulates around the oven. This makes
it a quick, economical baker.
The thin, sensitive, quick-heating lids are made
of annealed (malleable) Coleized steel the quickest
heating range top you have ever used.
The two back lids heat first, leaving the two
front lids for immediate use This feature adds
I to the convenience of the range You do not have
1 to reach over vessels which are steaming hot
I t easy to regulate.
1 ' The' air-tight base construction of this range
I and the Patented Hot Blast Draft gives a perfect
combustion of the fuel.
1 The saving of fuel (soft coal) will about pay
I for Cole's Patented High Oven Range in 2 or 3
1 years use.
No stooping or lifting while baking allow us
I to show and explain this range to you.
