H Now Yenr'a Day In Newton opened

M ture. As the sun rose over tho bean-

M the Sturm god rose over tlio Clarke-
ton peaks and swooped down on our
H beautiful city with a fury Indcscrlh-
H pule. It spent IIb strength by nine
M o'clock a. m. nnd settled down to
H tranquility. Thus the little folks and
H big, were ult'e to pay their happy
B New Venr calls In peace and comfort
The day was enlivened with strains
of beautiful music from tho Newton
H sliver band. In the afternoon the
M children were treated to n grand nop
M In the meeting house and all tho III-
M tie fo ks were made happy.
H On Saturday the 12st ult., Mr. and
1 Mrs. P. Tempest of Rexburg, ono
time residents of Newton, dropped In
B unexpectedly to visit tbolr daughter
M and son-lu-law Mr. and Mrs. John
M BciiBoii. Tho occasion was tho sll-
H ver wedding of tho latter who had
H been married twenty-flvo years on
H that date. Mr. Tempest and wlfo
M will return to their northern homo
H next Sunday,
M Mr. and Mrs. Tom Qrlmn enter-
tallied a few ot tholr many friends
M and relatives during tho past week.

H Mr. A. A. Johnson, tho efficient

H ends. Mr. Johnson and his aids aro

H Junius Jenkins and family came
H In from Alexandria a few days ago
H to enjoy a siiort season of recreation
with relatives.
H Mr. Amos Clarke, New ton's eter-

H affective of both ankles. Tho aged
H gentleman Is able to walk around
H some, and It Is hoped nothing very
serious may result.

Mrs. J. N. Hanson was pleased to
H meet and greet their ton Ell and
H family who arrived a few days from
their homo near Bancroft, Idaho. Mr.
and Mrs. Hansen will stay a few
H days here among relatives nnd
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Johnson are '
H here with their little ones from Ban-
1 croft. They will stay here visiting
H for a few weeks.
H Mr. Carl Jorgcnsen and family ar- ,
rived during tne holidays from their 1
B Bancroft homo to shako hands with
old friends. They expect to spend a
H week or two In their old home.
H Our aged friend Mads Peterson Is
H still battling bravely with a sickness
