Normal News i:
On the thirteenth of this
month the B. N. S. basketball
team and the St. George Stake
Academy team played a game of
basketball, in the latter's gym
nasium, which resulted in a
victory for St. George. Tho
score was 29 to 38.
, "Last Tuesday the Mutual boys
and the Normal boys played a
game jof basketball in the Nor
mal gym. The Mutual team
played a good game, and it kept
the Normal team moving to beat
them. s

The Normal boys are planning
a rabbit hunt to be pulled off in
t'he near future. We believe this
to be a wholesome as well as a
useful pastime.

ahosen a cast from among their
number 'to present "A Scrap of
paper." This is a college play,
and no doubt will prove a suc
cess as they have an excellent
cast of characters. '
Mr. Ashby is working hard to
get the cast Spv 'T)ne of the
Eight" in shape so that the play
can be presented in the- near
future.
Mrs. Edward Parry has been
seriously ill for more fhan a week
but at this time is considerably
improved. Her legion of friends
hope that she may soon be re
stored to health and vigor.

A delightful reception was
given Monday night at the home
of Marshal Thos. ,Urie, the oc
casion being the fiftieth birth
day of Mr.- Urie. Relatives and
friends to the number of forty
assembled at thejhonie of the
marshal and a rightroyal even
ing Was passed in playing games
and social conversation, followed
by a bountiful supply of refresh
ments. One of the most enjoyable af
fairs held recently jyas a surprise
party given by' relatives and
friends to Mr. Wm. Mcfarlane,
in honor of his thirtieth birthday.
Despite the fact that he was
taken wholly unawares, he prov
ed equal to the occasion and
showed himself tobo a capable
entertainer. Mrsi Mcfarlane,
who had a little inside" infor
mation as to what was coim'ng
and was prepared, contributed
to the comfort of.thqse present.
After several hours of jollifica
tion the guests "jyended their
way homeward,-delighted with
the events of theevening.
Tuesday evening U reception
was tendered to ,Ohas. Dover by
a number of relatives and friends
at the home of, John E. Dover,
just south of the city. Mr. Dover
was born and reared in this city
but removed to Washington some
six or seven years since. He has
been visiting here since the holi
days and will return to his north
ern home withjn.ja 'short time.
The party was attended by rel
atives and old-time friends.

Miss Evelyn Palmer enter
tained a number of. r her school
associates in the home of her
parents, Mr. 'and Mrs. Jethero
Palmer, last Friday evening.
The young folks joined in, play
ing games, singing, and telling
stories, and every one fortunate
enough to be presentment away
expressing delight at the manner
in which they had been enter
tained, Saturday night Miss Mame
Nelson gave a party to a number
of friends. In addition to games,
stories of by-gone days, and the
like, a delicious oyster supper
was served.
The children of the fourth
grade of the public school were
entertained Wednesday after
noon at the home of "ye editor."
Youthful games were entered in
to with great glee by the little
folks and the delight they felt
was expressed in the sound of
their merry voices. Light re
freshments added to the pleasure
of the children.
