Tho law passed by a recent! stato
legislature requiring those following
tho barber business to demontsrato
their fitness for that business by pass
ing an examination and also requiring
that proper sanitary precautions shall
bo observed by thoso who conduct
barberlng establishments Is a good
and salutxiry measure. Loathosomo
diseases are frequently con
tracted In barber shops. An Instance
In point was furnished a few days
ago when a young man consulted a
physician regarding a palntul and
loathesomo eruption on his face. It
appeared that tho dlseaso had been
communicated to him from unclean
Instruments used in a barber shop
which ho patronized. Dr. Benedict
made an examination of tho barber
shop, barber college, it is styled and
finding tho Instruments Infected and
the general surroundings unclean
had tho placo closed for a time and
thoroughly disinfected and fumigated.
