You are hereby required to appear in an action
brought against you by the above-named plaintiff
In the Superior Court of the City and County of
San Francisco, State of California, and to answer
the complaint filed therein within ten days (exclu-
sive of the day of service) after the service on yon
of this summons— if served within this county; or,
if served elsewhere, within thirty days.
The said action is brought to obtain judgment of
this court for the foreclosure of a certain mortgage,
described in the complaint and executed by
the said ALFRED R. WATSON, on the 2d day of
June, 1894, to secure the payment of a certain
promissory note made by said Watson to plaintiff
on said 2d day of June, 1894, for s2o,ooo, described
in the complaint herein, and which, by non-pay-
ment of interest, has become due, no part of which
said note has been paid, and the whole thereof,
together with interest thereon at the rate of 10 per
cent per annum from the 2d day of June, 1594, is
due and unpaid ; also for 5 per cent of the amount
found due plaintiff, for his counsel fees in this
action; also for the sum of 9107.50 paid for insur-
ance, and $5 paid for searching the title to the
mortgaged premises subsequent to the execution of
said mortgage. That the premises conveyed by
said mortgage may be sold and the proceeds
thereof • applied to the payment of the
principal and Interest of said note, moneys
expended by plaintiff 'as aforesaid, counsel
fees, and costs of suit; and in case such
proceeds are not sufficient to pay the same,
then that judgment be docketed against said |
ALFRED R. WATSON tor the balance re-
maining due, and also that the said defendants,
and all persons claiming by, through, or under
them, or either of them, may be barred and fore- '
closed of all right, title, claim, lien, equity of re- j
demption and interest in and to said mortgaged I
premises, and for other and further relief, as will I
more fully appear by reference to the complaint on
file herein. For further particulars reference to
said complaint is hereby made.

PROPOSALS FOR BURIAL OF INDIGENT
-L Dead— Office of the Clerk of the Board of Super-
visors of the City and County of San Francisco,
April 8, 1895.
In accordance with resolution No. 12.040
(Third Series) of the Board of Supervisors,
SEALED PROPOSALS will be received in open
session of the board on MONDAY AFTERNOON,
April 16, 1895, from 3 to 3:30 o'clock, for the in-
terment of such indigent dead in the City Ceme-
tery as are required to be buried at the charge of
the City and County of San Francisco, including
the City and County Smallpox Hospital, for the
term of one year, beginning July 1, 1895, and end- i
ing June 30, 1896.
NOTICE— The coffins to be made of three-quar- I
ter-inch surface redwood clear lumber, to be lined
with muslin and pillowed inside and to be shel-
lacked and varnished outside, and the tops to be
fastened down with not less than six screws. In
all smallpox cases the coffin shall be lined with
No. 10 zinc instead of with muslin, and hermeti-
cally sealed, and all coffins used must be subject to
the inspection and approval of the officer in charge
of the institution from which the body of the de-
cedent is to be buried, and must in all cases be
taken to such institution for the purpose of having
the deceased placed therein. . . --. .
No bid will be considered from any party who i
has not been engaged in the undertaking I uslness i
in this city and county and conducted said busi-
ness in a reputable manner for a period of at least
six months immediately prtcetlirg the date hereof. '
The grave to be excavated to a tit pth of at least I
six feet.
No body to be removed from the institution •
where it lies awclting burial within a period of
tweny-four hours after death, exrept by express
order of the Superintendent or officer in charge of
said institution.
The contractor will be required in all cases on
the death oj the . indigent person from infections
disease to inter the body of said decedent within j
such time as may v- designated by notice from I
the Superintendent or officer in charge of the in-
stitution where the death may have occurred, and
in all other cases within thirty-six hours after noti-
fication by the proper officer.
The contractor will further be required to con-
vey the bodies of decedents committed to his
charge for interment direst from the institution
from which he receives the same to the cemetery,
and then and there bury the same. And will not
be permitted upon any consideration to convey
such bodies to any intermediate resting-place, or
to keep the same in his custody for a longer period
than that required for their transit to the ceme-
tery.
Should the friends of any decedent apply at the
institution where such decedent may be lying
awaiting burial, for permission to bury the same,
j and prove to the superintendent or officer in charge
of said institution that their purpose is to provide
I a decent burial, and that they have no intention
• and will not allow the body to be used for the pur-
pose of dissection, then and in that case the body
of said deceased shall be delivered to said friends,
who shall take charge thereof and make the neces-
sary arrangements for the funeral with any under-
! taker they may think fit, but in such event the
contractor aforesaid shall have no claim against
the city for the burial of said decedent.
The party to whom the contract may be awarded
â– hall be required in all cases to procure from the
Superintendent of the City Cemetery a certificate
of the proper burial of each person under th» pro- '
visions of his contract and of these specifications,
and such certificates must in all cases be attached
to the demand of said contractor when presented
to the Board of Supervisors for approval, and must
I state the names of the decedents and the Institu-
[ tions from which the body was procured.
Incase of the violation of any of th« above con-
I ditions the contract shall be terminated by said city |
and county. .
The party to whom the contract is awarded will
I be required, prior to or at the time of the execution '
of said contract, to pay the cost of advertising this i
notice In three daily newspapers.
All interments of indigent persons the ex- I
penses of which must be borne by the city and |
county (other than those from any of the public ;
institutions) must be authorized by the Health !
Officer issuing a permit therefor, and all bills for
such interments to be approved by the Health .
Officer prior to being presented to this Board. I
j All demands for the burial of indigent persons 'â–
from any of the public Institutions to be ap- j
proved by the Superintendent of the institution
at which the death occurs, prior to being pre-
sented to this Board.
Bidders will estimate and state a specific
j amount for each interment.
In order to preserve uniformity and to facilitate
! the award the Board has resolved to receive no
nids unless made upon blank forms prepared by
I the committee, and a certified check for the sum !
j of 8500. drawn during the month of April, 1895,
in favor of and made payable to the Clerk of the i
Board, must be deposited by the bidder, condi- j
tioned that if the proposal is accepted and the con-
tract is awarded, and if the bidder shall fail or !
negliKit to pay the printing charges, execute the i
contract and give â– bond of $5000 within six days t
j after the award is made, then and in that case the !
