10 THE WOEKMAN'S RAILROAD Members of the Co-operative Common wealth Have Subscribed to the Fund and Are Sanguine of Success. The California Co-operative Common wealth is in receipt of letters of a recent date from A. R. Saver, vice-president and general manager of the projected San Diego, Pacific and Eastern Railroad Com pany, thanking certain of its members for subscriptions, and stating that the prospects are that work will commence on the road this fall. Mr. Saner writes that as soon as $100,000 is subscribed a call will be made and the work begun. He states that the citizens of San Diego have offered a site for the railroad shops, and have tendered the right of way out of the town. They are also bearing all preliminary ex penses, and ask for no return. Three members of the California Co-operative Commonwealth have subscribed $400, and are sanguine of the work promised to con tinue "during life or good behavior" of the subscribers. The Commonwealth Home on Natoma street is crowded to its utmost capacity, and there are always more applications than places. • — .* — • Harry de Greayer's Estate.
