PROBLEM CF TERMIXAtS
Charles il. Wood. sai4
part: *
The" United t?tates*will soon pour
fortft its exports fr.om the north,
the south and the east, westward,
through the gateway of th^ nation.^
San Francisco harbor. The prob£«
lem of terminals for rail and water
' traffic is diere soli-ed. The great
wealth of the state of California •
t will find its way to. the market^ of
the world through these terjninals.
I suggest the following improve
ments to tlie present situation: .
j. We want Jbay and river boats
to stop on our western water front.
2. We want'the Southern Pacific
company- to install more frequent
service for freigh.t, not on wagons,
by wav of the c creek route.
3. Transportation, charges on
•''Email shipments between Oakland
and San Francisco and vice versa
are tor» high.
4. We want ocean goipg freight
lines to absorb the chargfe from
'Oakland to San Francisco where
their steamers sail from San Fran
5. "we wa^it I western water
* front municipal dock at the earliest
possible date.
PROSPECTS FOR IXDI'feTRY
Harmon Bell said^in part:
The full development of the -Key
Houte basin alone 'by the city and
th« Key Roiite woulji provide more
' riot-king facilities than, the present
wharfage of San Francisco. v
Then think of the surrounding
. sites 'for factories and Industries of
s every kind. c .
But to obtain industries we must
treat capital with fairness. When
you give capital a black eye you •
also give Industries a blow in the
■ eolar plexus.

WHY SALVES FAIL
TO_CURE ECZEMA
IBtfHEfawi. v . • . v - - ■
Scientists are now-agreed that the
eczema ■ germs are lodged not In the
outer skin or epidermis, but In the in-
ner skin. Hence, a pene'tratingT liquid
is required, not an outward salve that
clogs the pores.
We recommend to all eczema- pa-
tients the standard prescription Oil of
vrintergreen as compounded in- liquid
; form known as D. D. : D. ;..- Prescription.
A trial bottle of this D.D.D. Prescrip-
tion, at only 25 cents, will instantly
relieve, the itch. We have sold and
recommended this, remedy for years,
and know of wonderful^ cures, from its
use.: We recommend it to oufV patrons.

PRUSSIC ACID IN
WOMAN'S STOMACH
Coroner's Jury Says That Mrs.
B. S. L. Pump Was Acci=

OAKLAND, Dec. v 2. — The . mystery

.inquestheld today in Fruitvale. though
it was proved that the woman died of
prussic acid poisoning, the analysis of
the stomach reveaiiag traces of cya
nide of . potash, a by-product of the
poison.
Owing to the. lack of conclusive evi
denoc the Jury /brought in averdict of
accidental prussic acid poisoning.
Dr. L. B. Smith, {who ; attended Mrs;
Pump just before ; she' died, testified
that she had admitted ; to him [ that] she
had' taken poison,, but refused 'to say
what- it was. The/ two daughters told
of their mother being taken suddenly
ill' and of her refusing to have a phy
sician. They saidO their. Smother had
been .in ■ good/splrits all dayi and that
she had no 'troubles- ori worries, which
might prompt her : to commit suicide.
Julius" C. Pump, the husband, a coffee
dealer, testified along the same. line.
llow and where :the"woman obtained
the poison Is a mystery, as no vial was
found in the house. An investigation
at the drug Stores revealed "that no
prussic acid had: nbe en sold in Fruit
vale. Had tho pure :.. acid been' taken
the woman would have died In 10 sec
onds, instead of: living half an hour.
Members of the-.famlly declare the
poison must have been formed by medi
