EUREKA. Nov. 20.—Aside from the steamer
City of Topeka, which crossed tn late this after
noon, there was not an arrival or departure to
day, the bar having been turbulent throughout
the day. British steamer Strathdon waa sched
uled to depart, but did not get away.
Steamer Sodth Coast, which arrived yesterday,
did not, as was reported after Its arrival, com*
from San Francisco, hut was forced to run south
to this port from Cbetco river on the Oregon
coast, where machinery for a lumber mill was
being unloaded. Tho South Coast reached the
mouth of the Chetco river several days ago and
tbe machinery was being discharged when the
heavy blow from tbe south came up. Captain
Hammer was forced to slip his moorings and
run for this port for protection.
South Coast probably will be able to leave port
again in the morning. For gome time to com*
it will operate between San Francisco and Clheto
river with machinery for the Inmber company.
On the southbound trip the South Coast will
touch here for lumber cargo.
ABERDEEN, Nov. 20. —The schooner Glendale,
hound for San Pedro, is in tbe lower harbor
waiting for a favorable bar.
The steamers Temple E. Dorr and Ondaner
left for San Francisco today and the steamer
J. B. Stetson arrived.
