BIG BLOW DELAYS LINER 12 HOURS Captain Trask Says Norther Was Among Hardest in His Experience Heavy Weather Between Point Arguello and Point Sur Encountered Bucking a hurricane blow from the northeast all the way between Point Argruello and Foint Sur, with slight moderation up to Pig-eon point, the Pacific Mail Panama liner Acapulco, Captain G. G. Trask, put into port yes «?rday afternoon, 11 hours behind schedule. Captain Trask reported that it was as Urood a northern as he lias ever plowed through, and that means something, because the veteran skipper has seen feme real weather adventures in the *—«■- ut windjammers. The heaviest weather v.ns experienced Friday night *bove Argruello, and even the most boastful of the "full brace o' sea legs" passengers admitted that there was nothing in the larder at mealtime that appealed to them. That the skipper ate his bite and cup of hot coffee on the bridge is an indi e*ion of how strong- the blow was. % Acapulco brought 2" cahin pas mngera am] four steerage, with 872 tons of carpo, $74,258 treasure and nine packag-es of mail. The passenger list included Mrs. Josephine L. Terhune, wife of the commander of the U. S. S. gunboat Annapolis, and Mrs. Mildred M. Gilbert, wife of the ensign of that craft. The full list was as follows: From New York— Ml?> Emma J. wvthT S. srtoi<". Mis. Betty T. Berry. Henry Lynde, Mrs. AIW B. Martin. John A. M.-Farlatie. WUlard A. Richard. Mrs. Wlllurd A. Richard. Russell A. Vau Bu-skirk. Mrs. K. A. Van Buskirk. From Ancon —Thomas E. Herman, Joseph X, Humphreys, E. U. Venie. From Corinto — HarrUon S. Coe, Mrs. Mildred M. Gilbert. Mrs. Josephine U Terhune. From Acajinla—BellsHiio Balina. Fri'in Sallnu Cruß—Alfonso Martinez, Mrs. Treasa Martinez. Masn-r Manuel M.irtinez, Master Gecirjre Martinez, Muster ReiM Martinez, Miss Francisco Rojas. I'athflmlcr I,ones Fore Gaff In the stiff norther Saturday night the pilot schooner Pathfinder lost Its fore gaff and was forced to proceed Into the harbor. The schooner skidded into the harbor like h scared rabbit end put to. finally, at Sausalito anchor age, after making the way around Al catraz island. Pilot Christenson, who brought In the Arapulco, reports that the blow Friday night Is the heaviest northeaster that has ever been experi enced off the Golden gate. Scuds Before Wind With the wind astern, the Pacific steamer Governor made some town the coast from Puget sound arriving at 7:30 o'clock yester norning. The Governor brought a fair list down and the skipper reports that the raginar swells, while aiding the progress of the craft, broke uncom fortably over the taffrail. Miscellaneous Xotes The Pacific Mail liner China, sched uled for arrival at sunrise this raorn ine;, has rnt-t the northeaster and will .not make the port until near noon The United States army transport Logan, for Manila, and Sheridan, for Honolulu, will depart this morning, the regular sailing date of the sth being advanced owing to the sth falling on Sunday. The German tanker Adorna departed for the west yesterday afternoon. The lumber schooner G. C. Ltndauer, departed south yesterday afternoon with an overloaded cargo of lumber P<?ned wide the eyes ■of water f Skippers. It has been noticeable the craft of the Wilson line have ] carrying down such loads of lumber that the decks are awash more than a foot. •-■♦'• That Skipper John Wilson of the customs boat Hartley, !n bargre office eervlce. is well liked along the water front Is shown by the petition circu lating along the front calling upon the "Washington authorities to keep Wilson on the Hartley. It has been announced that a change is slated for January 15 and that Wilson will be sent out on the cutter Bear as bcatswaln and the boat ewain of the Bear is to take Wilson's place. Wilson's work in handling the an tiquated craft Hartley is about the only thing which will induce a man who knows of a boat's seaworthiness to board the craft. Arwiy Transport!
