a garden hose Mrs. Eyre and her chil
dren began removing the smaller ar
ticles of furniture from the house.
Robert I-/ipp, an ice dealer from Red
wood City, drove into the yard Just
as the Oames commenced to leap up
the roof. He ran into the house, seized
a bucket and made his way on to the
roof. By this time servants from the
Percy P. Moore place across the street
had been summoned and a bucket
brigade was formed. Lipp chopped
through the roof of the building with
an ax and crawled to the seat of the
blaze, where, he received the buckets of
water and poured them on the flames.
He succeeded in extinguishing the
blaze, but was hauled from under the
roof in a semi-suffocated condition.
Mr. Eyre says he will make a hand
some gift to the iceman as a reward
for his bravery.
