Mrs. Maria Mitchell died yesterday
in her home in Alameda, where she
lias lived for - J3 years. She was SO
years old. Four sons survive her.
Frank and George Mitchell are mem
bers of The Call's staff of printers.
and Robert M. Mitchell is a member
of the printing firm of Mitchell &
Goodman. The fourth son, William, Is
connected with the Canadian bank of
commerce.
Despite her advanced age, Mrs.
Mitchell's death was unexpected for
the vogornus mentality and bright,
sunny disposition which were her's un
til tlie last, led everyone among , her
wide circle of friends to believe she
would live many years , longer. Her
husband, Robert M. Mitchell, died
thirteen years ago.
Funeral services will be held to
morrow at 2 p. m., in the parlors of

ALAMKDA, April 13.—C. E. Hamil
ton, an elderly man. fell from an elec
tric car at the corner of Park-street
and Central avenue this morning and
sustained a fracture of the skull at
thp base of the brain that it is feared
will prove fatal. Before starting to
leave the car he had asked the con
ductor where the Methodist church was
and it is presumed that he was going
to attend services. He was identified
at the Alameda sanatorium by a min
ister from East Oakland, where his
home is.
